The Steuben County Clerk keeps Supreme Court and County Court records at the courthouse in Bath. Corning City Court Records

Corning is the largest city in Steuben County. Corning City Court handles misdemeanor criminal cases, traffic violations, and civil matters up to $15,000 including small claims. Records from Corning City Court are kept separately from the County Clerk's files. You need to contact the City Court directly to get records from cases that started there. Cases that get bumped up to County Court or Supreme Court will eventually have their records transferred to the County Clerk.

Criminal cases that end in the defendant's favor are sealed under CPL Section 160.50. That covers dismissals and acquittals. Once sealed, those records drop off public databases. Law enforcement can still see them, but the general public cannot. This applies to cases in Corning City Court, County Court, and Supreme Court alike.

Court Records Access in Steuben County
